District Governor Judith M Henderson & Craig (DG) 2010 - 2011

DGE John Lamb and ClaireJudith has lived most of her life in Central Queensland. She is married to PP Craig Edmonston and has two daughters, Janita and Shanna, both Chartered Accountants. Shanna participated in the Rotary YEP to Sweden in 2000, was the Rylarian of D9570 in 2005/06 and is now a Rotarian.
                                       
Judith joined the Rotary Club of Emerald in 1995 serving as Secretary and Community Service Director before being President in 1997/98 when the Club won the Clem Renouf Trophy for the Best Overall Club in D9570. She was Charter President 2003/05 of the Rotary Club of Emerald Sunrise. Judith & Craig are currently members of the Rotary Club of Yeppoon.

She has served District 9570 as Club Service and Membership Adviser, District Conference Organising Chairperson and DG Newsletter Editor, Assistant District Governor, Group Study Exchange Chair as well as serving on the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee. Judith led a Group Study Exchange team to D1220, England in 2007/08. Judith & Craig have hosted many GSE participants and Youth Exchange Students.

Judith is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).

Judith and Craig have participated on a National Immunisation Day and a Tsunami Housing Project both in India. Judith has also spent time as a volunteer at the School of St Jude in Tanzania.

Judith and Craig enjoy travelling and catching up with friends both at home and abroad and a great place to do this has been while attending the International Conventions.
We both are looking forward to the rewarding year ahead and making new friends.

District Governor Elect Ian Mylrea & Jean (DGE) 2010-2011

Judith Henderson and Craig EdmonstonIan was born in Rockhampton in 1948 where he attended Primary School before moving to Townsville where he completed High School and a Motor Mechanic Apprenticeship.

In 1972 Ian married Jean and they lived in Ipswich for a short time before moving to Mt Isa for 3 years. It was while they were living in Mt Isa that they had their first experience with Rotary as Ian’s father Kevin was a member and President of Mt Isa West Rotary Club in 1973-74. In 1975 they moved to Bundaberg to run an Ampol Service Station. In 1978 they became the RACQ Road Service Providers for Bundaberg and District. In 1987 an opportunity came to operate another Ampol Service Station so they run both for a number years before Ampol sold the original site so a MacDonald’s Restaurant could open . In 2002 Woolworths Plus fuel were looking for a site to open in Bundaberg so it was time to move on again. This time they opened a stand alone Mechanical Workshop and have 15 full and part time employees.

They have 2 sons, Nathan and Bradley who now both work in the business running the Towing part of the business operation. Nathan and his partner Simone have a son Baillie. Bradley and his wife Katrina have a son Cooper. Simone works in the office at the workshop and Katrina is a teacher at Moore Park State School. Ian and Jean enjoy spending time with their Grandsons.

Ian was inducted into Rotary Club of Bundaberg East in 1991 and was President in 1993-1994. He has served as Club Treasurer, Vocational Service and Community Service Director. He as named a Paul Harris Fellow in 1998 and Jean was also named a Paul Harris Fellow in 2003. He has served as District RYPEN Chairman and ADG for Group 5.

Ian and Jean both enjoy a game of golf when they have the time. Ian spent many years on the Blue Care Committee and on the Board of Impact Make Your Mark. Ian is still on the Bundaberg District Scout Committee and has been Drum Major for the Bundaberg Municipal Band for the past 17 years.

Both Ian and Jean are looking forward to the office of District Governor in 2011-12 and the opportunities that it will bring.

District Governor Nominee Ken Kelly & Joyce

Judith Henderson and Craig EdmonstonKen and Joyce have been married for 45 years. They have three adult children (two of whom are married) and two grand-daughters.  Shaun, Trish and Bridget (2), live in Rockhampton, Brendan, Cath and Emma (7) live in Mackay and Catherine lives in Brisbane.
Ken and Joyce have lived almost all of their lives in Central Queensland, with the last 23 years in Mackay.
Ken commenced his working life in the mining industry at Moura, and spent the next 35 years at other mining centres such as Mt. Newman, Moranbah, and lastly as Manager at the Hay Point Coal Terminal. He then moved to Queensland Sugar, as Manager at the Mackay Bulk Sugar Terminal for 7 years.
After their children completed primary school, Joyce commenced a career as a Travel Consultant, owning her own Agency, and working at others for some years.
Ken and Joyce now live on two hectares at Richmond, on the outskirts of Mackay.              
Ken joined the Rotary Club of Mackay in 1995. He has served on the Club Board on several occasions and as President for 2003/04. Ken was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2007 District Conference in Mackay.
Ken and Joyce enjoy travelling and have attended the last five Rotary International Conventions, and are travelling to Montreal for the 2010 Rotary Convention. They have attended many District Conferences.

DG Terry Daley and DebbieImmediate Past DG John Lamb and Claire (DGE) 2009 - 2010

John was born in Newcastle NSW in 1942 and after serving an apprenticeship in Fitting, Machining and Toolmaking at the BHP Newcastle Steelworks, John took up a position in the drawing office of a BHP Subsidiary.

Married 41 years John and Claire have a daughter and two grandsons. John and Claire met when Claire was completing her final year at Newcastle Teachers College. John moved to Sydney and took up a position in the Engineering Drawing Office of Dunlop Rubber Australia’s Drummoyne Factory as an estimator and mould designer and later became product development deputy in the engineering design office of a cooling fan manufacturer.

In 1968 John and Claire relocated to Lake Macquarie near Newcastle in 1968 where John took up a position with Newcastle Shipbuilder, Carrington Slipways in Shipyard and Property Development. The principal task was the construction of a new and innovative shipyard at Tomago, on the Hunter River near Newcastle. There were many exciting years in the shipyard, including participation in the Australian Shipbuilding Industry Forum and Australian Small Ship Symposium and at night, managing a subsidiary speedway company. John purchased an illuminated sign company, selling the company after 9 years. He continued as factory manager involving many large neon projects including the reconstruction of Sydney’s Luna Park and the refurbishment of Sydney’s Centrepoint Tower podium.

John’s grandfather, Jack, was a 1937 Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Cessnock. John was inducted into the Rotary Club of Swansea (then D267) D9670, during the 1969-70 year. In the following thirty five years of adventure in service John has held most club positions and became President of Toronto (Lake Macquarie) 1992-93 and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship the following year. District positions have included Bowelscan committee and many years in Rotary Youth Exchange including 4 years as YEP deputy Chair and 4 years as YEP Chair. John was the District Governor’s representative to charter the R. C. of Toronto Sunrise.

Other interests include Rugby football, having played grade Rugby until age 30 and a few games of “Golden Oldies”. Many years sailing a dinghy and in large yachts on Lake Macquarie and offshore since childhood have given great satisfaction. These days, interests include family, reading and travel.

On retirement and relocation to Mackay, to be near family, in 2003, John became a member of the Rotary Club of Mackay North, becoming the International Service Director 2006-07 and the D9570 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships Chair 2006-07-08.

During the years of service in Rotary, Claire and John have enjoyed the association and friendship of many Rotarians of many nationalities and look forward to the years ahead.
