Our club, as part of District 9570 Group 1, serves the Mackay District Community in conjunction with eight other clubs; Mackay, Mackay North, Mackay West, Mackay Sunrise, Mirani, Walkerston, Sarina and Moranbah. Our regular meetings are held at the Ocean International Hotel on Fridays, at 12 noon for 12:30. All visiting Rotarians are most welcome and need only phone 49 572 044 to advise of your attendance. We look forward to meeting you! Port of Mackay is a mixed club of approximately 45members with a male/female ratio of approximately 35/10. Our average age is a "young" 52 ranging from 27 to 65 years, boasting a total of 38 school age children between us (with just two families representing one quarter of that number!). It is not surprising then, that we are very supportive of youth related activities in particular the Rotary Youth Exchange Program (RYEP), sponsorships to the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in Canberra annually and most recently the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. We initiated the Young Chefs Competition in the Mackay Region 5 years ago and more information can be found by clicking the appropriate link on this website. We enjoy excellent fellowship and are well known for our operations of bars at various local events! There remains no doubt that members of Port of Mackay take their Rotary seriously, but not at the expense of having fun and enjoying each other's company. Greg McNeill |
